Our purpose...
ECIHEN is an acronym for East Central Illinois Home Educator Network. We are a Christian home education support group based in Mattoon, Illinois. We have members from Mattoon, Charleston, Oakland, Gays, Greenup, Casey, Effingham, Humboldt, Neoga, Sullivan, Shelbyville, Toledo and Wheeler.

We are a group dedicated to helping others as we minister to our individual families by encouraging and fostering good parental care and admonition of our children. We hold to Christian values and family fun!

Our mission...
The mission of ECIHEN is to help parents excel in the education and discipleship of their children.  Our vision is to foster relationships, provide support, and honor Christ and seek Him in all of our efforts.

Statement of Faith...
We believe in the following:

  • The Bible is the complete and infallible Word of God.

  • There is only one God, eternally existed in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and that he will come again in power and glory.

  • The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict men, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

  • Man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only those who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone can be saved.

  • Salvation is offered as a gift, free to all who believe.  This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

  • All believers should live in a manner so as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord.

  • The spiritual unity of believers through our common faith in Jesus Christ, and that individual denominational differences which may exist should not hinder the unity of Christian home educators.

  • The family is the basic unit of our society, created by God, consisting of either a) one male and one female parent, united in marriage; or b) a single parent.

  • God, in His Word, has given parents the responsibility and authority to educate their children in a godly manner.  (1 Thessalonians 2:15)
