Thursdays |
Park activity days.
We are planning to meet at Lytle Park in Mattoon during the
summer since the Y program does not meet. We will be there on the
second and fourth Thursdays each month, from May through August. We
will meet from 1:00 until whenever you want to leave. We’ll meet on the side
by the Western Avenue entrance where the tennis courts are (not
the park right next to the pool entrance). Stop in when you can!
Our last park day of the summer will be Thursday, August 28! |

September 10 & 16 |
Okaw
Valley Orchard Field Trips. Due to the large groups we have had the past few years,
we have decided to schedule two separate dates for tours. Please
choose the date that works best for your family. On both dates, the
tour begins at 10:30a.m. A group will be leaving from the Rural
King in Mattoon. If you wish to follow us, please be there by
9:45. We will be leaving Rural King promptly at 9:50a.m. If
you wish to drive on your own and need directions, please email
Shelley Tobens at
shelley@ecihen.net. After the tour, if you'd like to stay for
lunch, there will be a picnic area set up and the kids can play on
the playground. Please bring a sack lunch for your family.
The cost
per person is $4.50 for paid members of ECIHEN and $5.50 for
non-members. This covers the tour, picking 4 apples, an apple
sipper with cider (or slush for older kids/adults), ½ of an apple
doughnut (whole doughnut for older kids/adults), and a coloring book or
educational newsletter. If you have more than 6 children in your
family, the parent gets in free (with 6 or more paid tours). In
order to receive the discount, you must be a paid member of ECIHEN
for the 2008-09 year by the date of the field trip registration.
If you
are interested in attending, you must pre-register and pre-pay by
September 4.
We
can only take up to 40 people for each tour so it will be on a first
come-first serve basis. You may register by emailing Shelley Tobens
at
shelley@ecihen.net. You may also register and pay at either the
August or September meeting. Click
here to view a flyer with details about the orchard and the
field trip. If you wish to mail a check, please make it out to
ECIHEN and mail it to Shelley Tobens at 56 Springchester Lane,
Mattoon 61938.
When you
register, please let me know how many in your party will be younger
children (1/2 doughnut and sipper with cider) and how many will be
older children/ adult (whole doughnut and cider slush). |
